How the penguin cold cap works

The Penguin Cold Cap is a manual, non-electric system, chilled to a very low temperature using dry ice rather than a machine. Because the caps gradually warm up as they're worn, they need to be changed for a fresh, cold cap roughly every 20 to 30 minutes throughout your session — which is exactly where our team comes in.

A typical session looks like this:

  • Pre-cooling — the cap is fitted around 30–45 minutes before your chemotherapy infusion begins, allowing your scalp to gradually cool
  • During treatment — caps are changed regularly throughout your infusion to maintain a consistently cold temperature
  • Post-cooling — cooling continues for a period after your infusion ends, since this is when chemotherapy levels in the body are at their highest

What to Expect

Cold capping isn't something you can do alone — it requires a trained person on hand throughout your session to prepare, change, and manage the caps, which is exactly the support The Hair Angels UAE provides from start to finish.
